My dog, Tasha, who died 17 years ago, was an amazing dog. When I got her in 1982, she was only 6 months old and I was her 6th owner. She was attached to the wall on a short leash and lying in her dirt. I took her, love at first sight, and even if it hadn't been, i wouldn't have left her with her previous owner.
She smelled terrible and it wasn't until we washed her that we (my parents and I) discovered that was a beautiful German sheppard underneath that dirt. She must have gone from hell to heaven and we quickly become inseperable. She never quite grew over her fears and I learned that I should not train her by yelling at her. All I had to do was snap my fingers to get her attention and use soft commandos.
She eventually died of kidney-failure and we had to put her to sleep on 2 January 1996. I stayed with her until the end. I was heart-broken and devastated.
She was a truly loyal dog and I still miss her.
