I've always loved the paranormal/extra-terrestrial/mysterious. I'm not a blind believer, but I'm fascinated. Atlantis, UFO's, ghosts, prophetic dreams, alternative medicins, Loch Ness, Bigfoot, urban legends, witchcraft, curses, the pyramids, the Inca's, the Mayas, end-of-world prophesies, Angkor Wat, ancient astronauts, ... you name it, I want to learn. Even the more 'darker' aspects such as satanism, demons, devils, zombies, mind-control, and at a lot of the conspiracy theories (JFK comes to mind) are interesting to me.
I'd always been intrigued by sci-fi. When I was child, I drank in shows like Star Trek, Blake 7 and Space 1999, because of the strange worlds they could create. In 1977 my dog was put to sleep. It shook my unshakable faith in God and things never got back to how it used be between God and me. We're still on speaking terms, don't get me wrong, but we also have frequent arguments (with me doing most of the talking, as usual)
Around the same time I discovered the writer that would forever change the way I looked at the world. Erich Von Daniken. He wrote several books on his theory that our 'Gods' are actually people from another planet.... I like that theory. Do I believe it blindly? Nyes, I don't believe in little green men with antennas on their head, but I do believe that it could be a possiblity that we're not alone in this huge cosmos. I don't believe in 'a God' but I do believe that we were created on purpose (don't ask me which one) because the evolution of the human being is TOO different from all those other animals around us.
Furthermore, I like how it both fucked up the church's ideology, yet, kept every work of religion intact. There are no lies in the religious books, but just a misinterpretation of the written word vs the actual event. And that is exactly the thing I found so fascinating. A different look at things. If people had never looked at things from a different angle and had the nerve to discuss it, we'd still believe the Earth was flat and the universe revolved our planet, when in fact we're just an unsignificant spec of dust in the grand scale of it all.
I liked that it questioned historian knowledge as I knew it at the time. Historians are always quick to dismiss ancient stories as 'myths', 'legends' and 'storytelling'. I'm always amazed by the fact that we can't even establish that Jesus Christ existed, which is barely 2000 years ago, but that we know exactly what happened 2 MILLION years ago, (give or take 10.000 years)
Sorry..... (climbs off soap box, I wasn't aware I had climbed on.... )
What was I telling this for? Right. Predictions... For some reason I thought I'd have a look for the predictions for 2014 (Dutch mediums only). Care to hear them? Wanna have a good laugh?
In general, the mediums don't predict much good for Poetin. (I applaud) Neither for Obama. (Don't care) or for the Dutch economy (which they are wrong about because, so far, it seems to be on the up)
Meanwhile had a good chuckle at the medium who predicted that Holland would do bad at the Olympic Games (5th place out of 26 countries with 8 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze medals.... yeah, pretty bad... not!) and that we would be mediocre at the World Soccer games... (Yes, we 'only' reached 3rd place! We should have been number 1 .... after winning from arch-frennemy Germany)
The vatican will give us some disclosure that could lead to this pope stepping down. (Ahmmm, yeah?) On the other hand there's also the prediction that this pope will (help to) bring peace between Jews and Arabs.... (Well, perhaps just in Italy, then, becaus in general...? Fat chance!)
In general they seem to agree that the economies in the European countries will remain low, but things are on the up for Greece and Italy, with Spain also starting to... but not expecting growth until 2015. (Well, that's positive!) On the other hand, China's economy will either completely take over OR explode in everyone's faces because it got TOO big. Bad news if you're in Austria, predictions are that Austria will need financial help after it's discovered that, for years, they have lived above their means... America's will continue to stay low...
Prince Charles will not become king. He will leave that to his son... We can expect the announcement in September this year. Just in case Beth didn't know it yet, she'd better hurry up making her plans and get Charles to not throw a tantrum over this.... (Just between us, I would like this solution. Fresh, young blood) I don't know if it is even possible that they can skip Charles, but several mediums speak of a change in the British royal house. So either Charlie or Billy. One even mentions 2 successions after each other... So, Beth goes, Charlie follows and he goes as well? I hope not. That is SO depressing, besides I like them all. (But without joking: They all do seem to agree that William, and not Charles, will be the next King though.. Funny. )
Oh, well, that was something else, wasn't it? :)
